Sunday follow-up and fellowship lunch invitation for Sunday 2/7

Church family,

I wanted to to remind you of the challenge from last Sunday AM to memorize Colossians 3:16-17 to help treasure His word: Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (ESV)

We will be reciting it together in the service, but I hope it also flavors our meditation and conversation this weekend as we prepare our hearts to apply it further together!
Also, we want to help apply that scripture further and give opportunity for that “one another” dynamic further as we pursue care, connection, and community together. We would encourage you to bring your own lunch and stay after for fellowship on the lower campus picnic tables as an opportunity for the above. There is plenty of space to spread out on our campus and this is a way to continue relationships around the Word we’ve just heard, and put Colossians 3:16-17 into practice. Here are parts of last week’s handout below to think about for these and other fellowship times:
1. Instead of rushing off after the service is over, or talking about the latest news, develop the habit of talking about the sermon with people after church. Start spiritual conversations by asking, “How did the Scripture challenge or speak to
you today?” Or “what about God [in the message] encouraged you?”
2. Encourage others by sharing things you learned about God and his Word during the
sermon. Make particular note of how your thinking has changed. Don’t let the Sunday sermon become a one-time event that fades from memory as soon as it is over (James 1:22-25). Choose one or two particular applications…
(Applications mentioned last Sunday from Marks of a Healthy Church Member)
For those who can’t stay for lunch or fellowship, of course we would still encourage you to engage others in conversation along those lines right after church and during the week.
Click here for the application and discussion guide from last week and here for the sermon audio, video, or PDF text notes. As an added bonus blessing, click here to watch Jedeiah recite Colossians 3:1-17 to encourage us to scripture memory!
Let’s let Christ’s Word more richly dwell in us as we speak to one another!
